Victory Lane at The Bullring
Vegas was good to us. I am grateful for the opportunity to travel to The Bullring to compete with so many great teams. We went into this weekend ranked 3rd in national points behind two tough competitors.
We had practice Thursday to learn the track and get the car dialed in for heat races on Friday. Based on the average of our two heats, we started P4 for what turned out to be a caution filled feature. Our run for the title came down to a pass in the last couple of laps to finish behind Jaron Giannini and one position ahead of Daniel Silvestri. This tied Daniel and I in national points. Our finish one position ahead was the tie breaker and clinched the title for us.
It was an honor to race with other Young Lions like Daniel and his team, great people and great competitors.
Thanks to everyone that supported our team this year. Most importantly, I need to thank my Dad, Keith Matheson, for all the hours in the garage and on the road. Thanks to my friends and family that have encouraged me since my days in karts. Thanks to CJ at 860 Motorsports and to all my partners this season, SignWorks New England, TM&M Services, Epsom Tool Rental, Bedford Barber Shop, Blue Wave Recreation, Dugre’s Auto Repair, and Liberty House Veterans Transitional House.
Thanks to everyone that followed me in the Fast Fridays Series at Seekonk Speedway. After a close points race, our team was able to clinch the Championship on the very last race of the series. We had a great experience racing at this track, thanks to the Seekonk officials and my fellow racers for a fun and exciting 2018 season. This accomplishment would not have been possible without Signworks New England, 860 Motorsports, Epsom Tool Rental, Bedford Barber Shop, Blue Wave Recreation and Dugre’s Auto Repair. THANK YOU!!
We would like to send a HUGE thank you to these two Racing Legends, Bentley Warren and Dick Berggren. They have both been so generous with their time, it is a huge honor for a young racer to have the opportunity to hear about their careers and views on racing.

Our team is so grateful for all the support shown by our Partners and Fans!! We could not get to Victory Lane without 860 Motorsports, SignWorks New England, Epsom Tool Rental, Bedford Barbershop, Dugre’s Auto Repair, and the two guys that are there week in and week out for me – My Dad, Keith Matheson and My Uncle, Chris Falcone!

JMR is proud to announce they will be partnering with Liberty House Veterans Transitional House for the 2018 season.
We are so grateful to Liberty House for all they do every day to support homeless veterans in New Hampshire. I am proud to work on their behalf to raise awareness and resources for their organization. This means so much to our team as our Crew Chief is a twenty year veteran of the US military and I was actually born in a military hospital. The veteran community is very important to us, we are planning multiple projects in support of Liberty House. You can learn more about Liberty House at http://www.libertyhousenh.org.
Our 2018 season officially started with a road trip to the U.S. Legend Car Winter Nationals at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, FL. With over 180 cars competing, it was the biggest event our team has attended. We had an action-packed week that included a couple of decent finishes for our team and a trip to Daytona International Speedway to watch the truck races. A great week all around!
After a season with MANY highs and lows, JMR had their first Legend Car Victory on September 9 at Oxford Plains Speedway. It felt great to be back in Victory Lane!! Special Thanks to our Crew Chief, Keith Matheson, our man in the Pits, Chris Falcone and our Partners, SignWorks New England and Epsom Tool Rental.
J. Matheson and C. Huntress at NHMS Banquet
Although race season has not officially started yet in the Northeast, our team has already had an eventful 2017. In February, Jake received the First Place trophy at the banquet to honor the champions in the SignWorks Oval Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Later in February, our team took a road trip to the Legend Car Winter National Event at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, FL. It felt good to get back on the track and to see so many Legend Car drivers from all over the country!
Cars on display in Granite State Legend Cars Booth
Next stop for the JMR team was the Frank Maratta Race-a-Rama Auto Show held at the Eastern States Expo in West Springfield, MA. It was great to talk to so many fans about Legend Car racing at the Granite State Legends booth.

Jake Matheson Racing, LLC was pleased to present a donation to Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance to military families and wounded warriors.
“Our team was honored to support military families this season”, Matheson stated. “We are happy to have met our goal to raise at least $1,000 for Operation Homefront. We achieved this through promotion on multiple social media platforms, offering team gear for contributions to Operation Homefront through our website, and by donating a portion of our winnings.”
