Running the eNASCAR iRacing Coca-Cola Series in 2021

My journey in Sim Racing started when I was just eight years old, around the same time as my on-track experience.  We quickly realized the need for more seat time than the short racing season in the Northeast would allow.

My Dad encouraged me to try iRacing.  I was immediately hooked on Sim Racing. This decision had a huge impact on my development as a racer.

At first, I mainly raced online during the off season and minimally during my on-track season. I soon discovered NASCAR had a professional Sim racing league.   I learned about the process to qualify and how to improve my performance on the eTracks.

In order to advance to the highest series, drivers must finish Top 20 in the Road to Pro Series, and then finish Top 20 again in the Pro Series.

In late 2019, I connected with Nexxus eSports and would eventually compete on their team in the 2020 Road to Pro Series.  The result was a 6th place finish for me in total season points.

It was time to prepare for the Pro series.  It was a short six race season to get used to setting up the car and relearning the Xfinity style car. We overcame difficulties early on and managed to advance two of our Nexxus eSports drivers (myself and Ryan Doucette) into the eNASCAR IRacing Coca-Cola Series for the 2021 season.

Bring on 2021!

2020 Wrap-Up

Jake with Spotter Tyler Cox at Claremont Motorsports Park

Our 2020 season has officially come to an end. The Granite State Pro Stock Series had a delayed start in June, with adjustments to dates and venues, as necessary. We appreciate all that local tracks and promotors did to make this season possible during this difficult year.

Our team finished fourth in points overall, a significant improvement on our 11th place ranking in 2019. We were top ten most races, including a couple of top five finishes. We continue to learn more about this car and how to improve our performance on track.

We could not do this without our Partners: SignWorks New England, Laconia Residential, Epsom Tool Rental, Bedford Barbershop, Lakes Region Mechanical, Laconia Refrigeration, and New England Mechanical.  We love working with these companies and appreciate their support.

It takes a dedicated group of people keep this racing dream alive.  I am grateful to all that supported our team this year, in more ways than we can list.  We appreciate every one of you.  Thanks to my Crew Chief and Dad, Keith Matheson, Al Holstius, Jeff & Trent Goodrow, Sean & Devin O’Connell, Tyler Cox, Bryan & Barb Iwaniuk, Joey Ternullo, Evan Marchand, Mike Davis, and Cody & Jason Hodgdon.

Mid-Season Update: JMR On and Off The Track

It’s been a busy summer, both on and off the track.

We are four races in to the Granite State Pro Stock Series schedule and continue to learn about this car with every run. I have enjoyed competing in this series, and am encouraged by a top five and a couple top ten finishes. We are looking forward to the rest of the season, and to trying out some tracks we have not run before.

Sim Racing is also a passion of mine, I have been an iRacer since I was about eight years old. At the moment, I am competing in the iRacing Road to Pro Series with my team, Nexxus eSports. Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to do an interview with Burning Rubber Radio to discuss RTP. I appreciate the invite and enjoyed talking to the crew about all the benefits (and fun) of Sim Racing. There is no doubt the hours on the sim have improved my on-track performance. The top 20 drivers from this series will progress on to the iRacing Pro series, one step below the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series. My goal is to be one of those 20!

Epsom Tool Rental Named Official Fuel Sponsor in 2020

Jake with Mark Fraser, Owner of Epsom Tool Rental

“Epsom Tool Rental has been a loyal supporter of our team for years”, Matheson said.  “In addition to signing on as the official fuel sponsor for JMR in 2020, ETR has provided critical tools and equipment to our shop.  Check out their website at to learn more about all that Epsom Tool Rental offers, they have something for everyone!”

“Epsom Tool Rental is glad to continue our relationship with Jake,” stated Epsom Tool Rental Owner, Mark Fraser.  “I’ve known his team since he was running Bandoleros.  We were proud to have the ETR logo on the car when he won his National Championship in Las Vegas.  We are forward to watching this next step in his career.”

Celebrating the 2019 Season

GSPSS Awards Table at 2019 Banquet

Our team had a great time at the Granite State Pro Stock Series banquet on Saturday night at the Thompson Speedway Clubhouse. It was good to see all the other drivers and teams, and to talk about the 2019 season. Special thanks to GSPSS and AR bodies for the cool trophy and generous gift certificate. Looking forward to 2020!

2019 Season Wrap-Up

Our rookie season in the Granite State Pro Stock Series was a roller coaster ride. Many ups and downs, and a lot of fun. We had three top-ten finishes, a mid-season trip to NC for repairs, a couple different paint schemes, and plenty of time in the shop.

Our goals this season were to continue learning about these pro stocks and to earn the respect of my competitors. Our team has learned much. I have been treated well by the other drivers and have enjoyed running this series. We’ll take the lessons learned in 2019 to improve our program for 2020, can’t wait to get back at it.

This season would not have been possible without the skills and racing experience of the people in this picture. Our Crew Chief – Keith Matheson, Our Man in the Pits – Joe Perreault, Our Spotter – Sue Barnett, and not pictured, but much appreciated, Albert Holstius. We appreciate all of you!
